BRONX, N.Y. – The men's soccer team (7-6-0, 2-2-0 Atlantic 10 Conference) surrendered two late goals to Fordham (7-5-0, 2-1-0 A-10) this afternoon at Jack Coffey Field in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Rams.

After netting the equalizer in the 81st minute, Fordham score the game-winner in the 3rd minute of the first overtime session. John McHugh took a long pass and beat three St. Bonaventure defenders and netminder David Flynn for his third goal of the season, and second of the day as he also scored the game-tying goal.

After scoring three goals in the first 30 minutes of their win over La Salle on Friday, the Bonnies got another early tally against the Rams as Robert D'Cruz scored his first goal of the campaign in the 7th minute. Senior Chris Leko sent a cross onto D'Cruz's head, who beat the keeper from eight yards out.

"My hope from today is that we understand and learn that there are things that we have no control over, such as how the other team defends us, what the weather is or how the game is officiated" head coach Mel Mahler commented after the game. "We have to focus on the things we have control over, and what that is for us is how we want to play."

The Bonnies will next have that opportunity on Friday when they again hit the road for an A-10 weekend as they travel to Cincinnati to face Xavier. Kickoff is for 7 p.m.

Game Notes: D'Cruz was able to make an immediate impact after he subbed in not even two minutes into the game for James Reed … Fordham limited the Bonnies to just one shot in the second half, out-shooting them on the day, 12-6 … the Rams were whistled for being offsides nine times, compared with the Bonnies' one … there were four yellow cards issued, two for each team … St. Bonaventure's A-10 point total remains at six.
