ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Led a combined 10 RBI from
junior Jesse
Bosnik and freshman Billy
Urban, St. Bonaventure pounded out 16 hits en route to
a 16-8 Atlantic 10 series-opening win at Duquesne on Friday.
Bosnik and Urban each drove in five runs, as the Bonnies
extended their win streak to four games by scoring a season-high 16
runs. St. Bonaventure is now 11-20 on the season, including 4-9 in
the A-10.
Batting in the No. 3 slot in the lineup, Bosnik went 3-for-5
with four runs scored and five RBI. Included in Bosnik's big
afternoon was his team-leading eighth home run, a three-run shot in
the fifth. Urban, who was batting cleanup, did his damage with a
pair doubles two-run doubles in the sixth and seventh innings,
respectively. Urban finished 3-for-6 at the dish with five RBI.
The Brown and White's 16 hits were their 19th double
figure hit total of the season. Junior Ryan
Mosher set career-highs of three runs and four hits
from the No. 9 spot in the lineup. Sophomore catcher Michael
Grieco continued to build onto his recent hot streak
with his first career home run and three runs scored.
Freshman starter Andrew
Revello kept Duquesne off the board until fourth
inning when the Dukes plated the first three runs of the game to
take a 3-0 lead.
The Bonnies responded in the next inning, taking the lead for
good with a four-run fourth. A sacrifice fly off the bat of
freshman Jason
Radwan brought home the first run and Bosnik's
three-run blast made it a 4-3 game in favor of the Bonnies.
St. Bonaventure extended its lead in its next at-bat in the
sixth inning, plating four more runs for a commanding 8-3 lead.
Again, it was Bosnik in the middle of the action, driving home his
fourth and fifth runs of the game with a double. Urban began his
string of three straight at-bats with an RBI with a two-run
double.
A third consecutive four-running put the game away for St.
Bonaventure, as it extended its advantage to nine runs, 12-3, in
the top of the seventh. Grieco led off the inning with a solo
blast, while Urban's second consecutive two-run double capped the
inning.
The two teams will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. in
the second game of the three-game set.
