STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Darkness suspended
play on the opening day of the Penn State Rutherford
Intercollegiate on Saturday with St. Bonaventure posting a first
round score of 309 to sit in a three-way tie for ninth place.
The Bonnies were actually one of a few teams that finished the
second round of the day, but full results from round two
won't be made available until all 14 teams finish.
Just three teams broke 300 in the first round, led by host Penn
State's four-man score of 291. The Penn State Blue Course is
a par 72 and measures 7,202 yards. Sunday's final round will
begin 45 minutes after the remaining teams finish round two.
Senior Nathan Peck carded four birdies en route
to a team-low three-under par 75. Peck's 34 on the front nine
highlighted a round in which he played the course's three par
3s at even par. Peck's 75 put in a tie for 16th
after the first round out of a field of 78.
Chris Stoddard's first round 77 was
highlighted by 12 pars – the seventh-most in the field.
Graduate Andrew Fretthold and junior
Kristopher Boyes turned in the last two scores of
the afternoon with a 78 and 79, respectively.
A release on round two will be posted as soon as results are
made available. A full tournament recap will also be available at
the conclusion of Sunday's final round.
