ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The month of May is usually when
weekend series' take on a new meaning as the regular season comes
to a close. Apparently, May started a day early as St. Bonaventure
and Saint Louis battled for 14 innings before the Billikens plated
the game-winning run of the four hour and 31 minute Atlantic 10
series-opening marathon at The Billiken Sports Center.
The wild affair featured a combined 30 hits, 10 different
pitchers and five errors before a bases loaded walk to SLU's
cleanup hitter Jon Myers brought home the game-winning run.
St. Bonaventure overcame a 6-0 deficit to tie the game force
extra-innings. Each team plated a run in the 11th.
The Bonnies are now 13-23 on the season, including 5-11 in A-10
action. The Billikens are 6-1 at home this year in A-10 home games,
as they improved to 9-7 in league play.
