PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — After rallying from a four-run deficit with nine runs in the seventh and eighth innings, St. Bonaventure watched La Salle plate three runs in the bottom of the ninth to force extra-innings where it eventually plated the game-winning run in the 11th for a dramatic 13-12 win Friday at Hank DeVincent Field.

Trailing 8-3 entering the top of the seventh, the Bonnies began their rally with four runs in the in the inning, including three with two outs to climb within one, at 8-7.

St. Bonaventure took the lead and momentum of the game in its very next at-bat, using five consecutive base-hits to produce what appeared to be a game-changing five-run top of the eighth inning. The final result of the Brown and White's nine runs over two innings was a 12-8 lead with just six outs to go.

La Salle bounced back with one run in its half of the eight to make it 12-9 and after a scoreless top of the ninth freshman closer Billy Urban entered the game looking for his fifth save. After getting the leadoff man out, Urban got himself into trouble by walking the next two batters before getting the second out via strikeout. A two-out double to right center field not only scored the runner from second base, but gave the Explorers two base runners in scoring position. Brendan Norton made good on his opportunity to tie the game, drilling a single up the middle that scored both runners to tie the game at 12-12 and force the Bonnies into extra-innings for the fifth time this season.

Both squads went down quietly in the 10th and the Bonnies turned in another scoreless inning in the top of the 11th to set the stage for the Explorers. Senior John Malloy wasted little time in getting the home team on the board, blasting a leadoff game-winning home run to right field.

The win clinches the series win for the La Salle (19-28, 12-11) heading into Saturday's finale at noon. St. Bonaventure, on the other hand, falls to 16-28 overall and 7-16 in the A-10 with the loss.

Making his 22nd appearance of the season, junior Jamie Wallschlaeger was tagged for his first career loss after giving up the home run in the 11th. A total of four different pitchers took the mound for the Bonnies after starter Andrew Revello was knocked from the game in the fifth.

Lost in the game was St. Bonaventure's 28th double-digit hit performance. The Bonnies pounded out 16 hits, their best total in 12 games, highlighted by seven players finishing with multi-hit afternoons. The middle of the lineup (3-7) accounted for 11 of the hits and drove in 11 of the 12 runs

Freshman Austin Ingraham led the way with a season-high three hits and his third three-RBI performance of the year. Junior Brad Steinbach (pictured) also drove in three runs from the cleanup position on two hits. Steinbach has picked up a hit in eight of his nine games since returning from injury on April 27.

Junior Jesse Bosnik's team-best 23rd multi-hit game featured his 19th double, team-leading four triple and a pair of RBI. Bosnik now has 57 runs batted in this season, putting him two away Brian Pellegrini's single-season record of 59 set in 2007. Sophomore Nick Brennen and Urban turned in their second multi-hit game of the series and fifth in a row. Brennen along with senior Nick Cunliffe each scored three runs. Freshman Jason Radwan rounded out the multi-hit performances by going 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

As good as St. Bonaventure's 16 hits were, La Salle out-did the Brown and White with 18 hits of their own. Freshman Shane Petrellis picked up his first collegiate win on the mound, going 3.2 scoreless innings to close the game.
