BEDMINSTER, N.J. – Junior Brian McKenna shot rounds of 3-over 75 and Even-par 72 to lead the St. Bonaventure golf team to a tie for seventh place in its final fall competition of the season Sunday at the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate hosted by Seton Hall University.
The Bonnies shot rounds of 307 and 302 for a 609 total to finish tied with Lafayette College. James Madison won the 17-team field competition by 10 shots over Seton Hall as the Dukes fired rounds of 297 and 289 for a 586 total.
McKenna finished tied for seventh individually, capping a stellar fall campaign in which the junior finished inside the top-15 in each of the last five tournaments, including a top-10 finish in four of those.
Senior Kevin Lewis shot rounds of 78 and 76 to finish tied for 31st with a 154 total on the Fiddler's Elbow River Course. Junior Greg Horvath and freshmen Scott Brady and Pierce Terrance rounded out the Bona scoring for the tournament as each finished one shot behind each other.
Horvath shot rounds of 79 and 76 to finish with a 155 total. Brady fired two rounds of 78 for a 156 total, while Terrance went 76-81 for a 157 total.
The event culminates the fall schedule for the team as the Bonnies finished inside the top 10 in four of the six tournaments they entered. The club will resume competition in the spring as it prepares for the Atlantic 10 Championship.
