ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Richmond (7-4-2, 1-1 Atlantic 10) used a pair of headers in the first half to hand St. Bonaventure (5-5-2, 0-1-1) a 2-0 loss Sunday afternoon at a rainy and cold McGraw-Jennings Field.
Spiders' senior Liza Koch served up crosses to sophomore Becca Wann in the 22nd and 37th minutes to help Richmond to its sixth win in seven games, after having a five-game win streak snapped Friday night at Duquesne.
The Bonnies, now 1-3-2 in their last six games, outshot Richmond 19-6 for the game, including 14-2 in the second half. Richmond's Melissa Pachecho made nine saves and kept the Bonnies off the board with several key stops.
Sophomore midfielder Jordan Calabria recorded a career-high seven shots, with five on target.
The Bonnies host Duquesne in another Atlantic 10 game at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
NOTES: Steady rain showers and cool temperatures made for slippery conditions … Jennifer Andrews made two saves for SBU … Calabria had more shots (7) and shots on goal (5) than Richmond (6, 4) … St. Bonaventure has not scored a goal since the 38th minute of the Colgate game, a span of 252:16 … the 0-1-1 start marks the fourth time in six seasons that SBU has gone winless in its first two conference games … SBU has still managed to make three straight Atlantic 10 Championship appearances.
