Bonnies Cruise Past Canisius, 81-62

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y.
- Chris Johnson scored a career-high 19 points to pace four Bona players in double figures as St. Bonaventure (4-4) earned an 81-62 victory over Canisius (1-7) Saturday night at the Reilly Center.

Matthew Wright added 16, Andrew Nicholson booked his 19th career double-double with 10 points and 10 boards and Da'Quan Cook chipped in 10 as the Bonnies sent their Little Three rival to their sixth straight loss.

SBU stretched a 23-21 margin to 30-21 late in the first half, part of a 13-4 run that gave the Bonnies a 36-25 lead at the intermission. Leading by 11 with 10:36 to play in the game, Nicholson sparked a 9-0 run that Wright capped with a fastbreak dunk to put the Bonnies comfortably ahead, 65-45, with 8:10 to play.

Johnson, who finished 5-of-9 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the line, tallied 13 of his 19 in the final 20 minutes.

The Bonnies will enjoy an eight-day break before returning to action against Loyola (Md.) Dec. 18 at the Reilly Center. St. Bonaventure hosts NC State in Rochester, N.Y. Dec. 20.

NOTES: Nicholson passed Caswell Cyrus for 13th place on the all-time rebounds list, and now has 683 for his career ... all 11 scholarship players drew game action ... St. Bonaventure had new banners for the 1970 Final Four and 1977 NIT Championship on display for the first time ... banners for every postseason appearance now hang in the rafters of the Reilly Center.
