Lewis Paces Trio Of Golfers As Bonnies Complete Second Round

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Junior Kevin Lewis and seniors Chris Stoddard and Kris Boyes all shot rounds of 75 on Saturday in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Championship at Mission Inn Resort as the Bonnies moved into ninth place.

As a team, Bonaventure totaled a 307 – 23 shots better than its opening round – and moved up from 10th place as a result of the fourth-best second round of the 11 competing teams.

Charlotte, looking for an unprecedented sixth straight title, has a three-shot lead over Xavier. The 49ers and Musketeers were tied atop the leaderboard after the first round on Friday and on Saturday shot a 293 and 296, respectively.

Lewis, Stoddard and Boyes all vastly improved their second 18 from their first on Friday. Lewis was seven shots better after firing an 82 on the par-72 El Campéon course. Stoddard and Boyes were both nine shots improved after each shot an 84 in opening-round action.

Sophomore Brian McKenna shot an 82 in second round, while Greg Horvath finished with a 94.

After sitting just two strokes clear of last-place La Salle following the opening round, the Bonnies are now 21 shots clear of last-place Saint Joseph's and just five behind eighth-place Fordham.

Lewis's two-day total of 157 is good for a tie for 27th overall, while Stoddard and Boyes are tied for 32nd overall out of the 55 competing golfers.

Final-round action is set to tee off from the 7,003-yard course on Sunday at 8 a.m.
