Bonnies Tied For 4th After Two Rounds Of Cornell Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Kevin Lewis and juniors Brian McKenna and Greg Horvath all shots two-round totals of 147 to pace the St. Bonaventure golf team as it finished the opening 36 holes of the Cornell Invitational tied for 4th place.

Columbia University (578, +2) leads the 14-team field, while Binghamton University is just one shot behind the Lions. The Bonnies (597, +21) are tied with Colgate, 19 shots behind Columbia.

Lewis shot an opening-round 3-under 69, tied for the second-lowest score of the first round. However, he struggled with a 6-over 78 on his second 18 of the day to finish with his 147 total.

McKenna and Horvath ended with the same result as Lewis, but did so in a more consistent manner. McKenna finished with rounds of 74 and 73, respectively, while Horvath reversed those rounds to shoot 73 and 74, respectively.

Lewis, McKenna and Horvath are all tied for 14th overall out of the 75 competing golfers.

Sophomore Chris Mackey – fresh off his best-ever finish last weekend at the 23rd Annual Leo Keenan Invitational – shot rounds of 78 and 78 to finish his first two rounds tied for 46th with a total of 156.

Freshman Pierce Terrance rounded out the Bona scoring just two shots behind Mackey with a 158 after firing rounds of 78 and 80, respectively, to finish tied for 55th.

Playing as an individual, meaning his score does not factor into the team's overall score, freshman Daniel Dunnigan shot a 164 after rounds of 86 and 78, respectively.

The Bonnies finished with the fourth-most pars on the day (107), while McKenna played the par-4 holes better than everyone save for one person as he closed his day having played those holes at 1-under par.

Tee times will begin the final round on Sunday at 8 a.m. All five of the Bona golfers will tee off between 8:50 and 9:30 a.m. from Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
