Qualifying Singles Draw | Doubles Draw
WEST POINT, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure women's tennis players Marissa Brossard and Fatya Amiri are competing in the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships this weekend at Army's Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The Bonnies' sophomores earned berths into the event, which started Friday and runs through Tuesday and features the top singles and doubles players from 46 Division I schools across the Northeast. One of 12 regionals being contested nationwide, the winners will advance to the ITA National Championship, Nov. 8-11 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
Brossard will play out of the qualifying singles draw and team with Amiri in the doubles draw over the weekend. Brossard begins play against Buffalo's Tamara Markovic in the qualifying Round of 32 on Friday. The top eight finishers from the qualifying draw advance to the 128-player main draw, which begins Saturday.
In doubles competition on Friday, Brossard and Amiri will square off against Cornell's Lauren Frazier and Sarah O'Neil in the main draw Round of 64.
Through two tournaments this fall, Brossard is 3-2 in singles action and has partnered with Amiri for a 2-2 record.
