ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's and women's tennis teams will be back in action this weekend at home in the SBU Tennis Center.
The Bona men will take on Patriot League foe Bucknell Saturday February 25 at 11:00 a.m., and the women will take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania Friday at 4 p.m. and Bucknell Saturday at 3 p.m.
Last weekend, the SBU men's team lost at home to Cleveland State, 7-0, and to Fordham, 6-1. The Bonnies will be looking for their first team victory this weekend. Bonaventure is led by junior Oscar Yanez who has posted a 6-11 mark this season in singles competition. The Mexico City native is 3-6 in number one singles this year. The duo of Oscar Yanez and Miguel Suarez also lead the Bonnies in doubles victories with a record of 4-4.
The women were also in action last weekend, failing to Army on Saturday, 5-2, and to Fordham Sunday, 6-1. The Bonnies are led in singles action by junior Kathryn Kvas, who holds a 7-5 record in singles action this year. Kvas holds a 4-2 record at number four singles this year. In doubles play, the Brown and White are lead by the duo of freshman Marissa Broussard and senior Manuela Marin-Salcedo who own a 5-3 mark this year.
After this weekend, the SBU men will be in action March 3 against A10 rival Charlotte, and then again the next day at Virginia Tech.
As for the women, they too will take on Charlotte March 3 at 4 p.m. on the campus of Virginia Tech.
