GRASONVILLE, M.D. – The St. Bonaventure golf team returns to the course this weekend for its second tournament of the spring season March 30 - April 1 at the 14th Annual Fireline Towson Invitational.
The tournament will begin this Friday morning with one round to open the 54-hole golf event held at the Prospect Bay Country Club on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Play will consist of 18 holes Friday, Saturday and Sunday with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day. The championship course will play 6,659 yards with a par of 72.
Last year's team champion, Kent State, is not in this year's lineup. St. Bonaventure will be part of a 22-team field including: Towson, Bethune-Cookman, Binghamton, Canisius, Central Connecticut, Colgate, Cornell, Drexel, Fairfield, Fairleigh-Dickinson, Hartford, Lafayette, LIU, Loyola, Mt. St. Mary's, Navy, Northern Colorado, Penn State, Sacred Heart, Seaton Hall and St. Peter's.
The last time out the Bonnies finished 15th at the Re-Bath Snowman Getaway hosted by Washington State University in Arizona with a three-round total of 963.
In that tournament, junior Greg Horvath finished as the Bona low man with a three-round total of 239. Classmate Brian McKenna was right behind him, closing with a final-round score of 78 to complete his tournament with a 240.
Following this weekend the Bonnies will travel to Penn State to attend the 36th Annual Rutherford Intercollegiate held at the Penn State University Golf Club April 7-8.
