FARMVILLE, Va. – Coming off consecutive last-place finishes, the St. Bonaventure golf team – behind a top-five showing from senior Kevin Lewis – wrapped up its regular season with a fifth-place finish at the Manor Intercollegiate hosted by Longwood University on Saturday.

Lewis, who closed his tournament with a 1-under 71, finished in fifth place overall to lead the Bonnies to a three-round 911 total and their best finish in a tournament since a fourth-place showing at the Cornell Invitational in September. Seton Hall won the 10-team tournament by seven shots over Delaware with an 880 total.

A Henrietta, N.Y. native, Lewis used consistent play throughout his three rounds. He opened with a 1-over 73 on his first 18 of the day on Friday, and shot a 2-over 74 on his second round of the day before closing with his best round of the tournament on Saturday.

Lewis did a majority of his work by posting low scores on the par-5s, playing those holes at -6 over his three rounds – tied for the tournament low in that category.

Fellow Western New York product Brian McKenna wasn't too far off Lewis's pace as the junior finished tied for 12th after firing rounds of 72-74-77 for a 223 total, just five shots behind Lewis.

As a team, Bonaventure shaped rounds of 305-302-304 out of the long Manor course, which measured 7,246 yards this weekend. Fellow Atlantic 10 member George Washington finished just in front of the Bonnies in fourth place with an 897 total.

After getting off to a tough start during his first round in which he shot an 83, junior Greg Horvath lowered his score each of his final two rounds, firing a second-round 77 and a final-round 75 to finish tied for 36th. This marks the second consecutive tournament that the Connecticut native has decreased his round totals each of the final two rounds.

Sophomore Scott Brady equaled Horvath's 235 total with rounds of 77-77-81, while classmate Chris Mackey finished 53rd with rounds of 84-79-87 for a 250 total to round out the Bona scoring.

The Bonnies will take a week off from competitive action before returning to the course April 27-29 at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. for the Atlantic 10 Championship.
