Final Round Tee Times
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The St. Bonaventure golf team wrapped up its second round at the Atlantic 10 Championship at Heron Bay Golf Club on Saturday in 11th place following a team total of 305.
For the second consecutive day, the Bonnies were paced by junior Brian McKenna (pictured), who finds himself in a tie for 19th overall following his second straight 1-over 73. McKenna played his front nine at Even Par before making two bogeys against one birdie on the backside.
George Washington continues to lead the 11-school tournament as the Colonials have now fired back-to-back rounds of 284 to hold a two-shot lead over Charlotte – the six-time defending champions – and Xavier. The Bonnies, who opened play Friday with a 303 total, have a two-day score of 608.
Sophomore Scott Brady finds himself as Bona's second-lowest scorer through the second round of the three-round championship as he shot a 77 on Saturday and has a two-day total of 152 – two shots ahead of senior Kevin Lewis, who closed his 18 with a 78 after bogeying the final three holes.
Sophomore Chris Mackey is two shots behind Lewis's pace as he shot a 77 – two shots better than his opening 18 on Friday. Junior Greg Horvath rounds out the Bona scoring for the tournament with a 157 total following a 78 during his second round.
Overall, the 7,268-yard course played easier during the second round than the first, as eight holes played at, or under, par, compared with just four during the first round. The 18th continues to present the biggest struggle for the 55 competitors as it is playing nearly a third of a shot more difficult than the second-hardest hole (+0.73 to +0.45). Three of the Bonnies' five golfers bogeyed that hole during the second round.
Brady has positioned himself as the team's second-lowest scorer due primarily to his play on the par-3s as he has collectively played those holes at 1-under for the tournament. That performance is tied for the third-best among all the competitors.
