ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Senior Jordan Crane threw his fourth career complete game Saturday afternoon, allowing just two hits as the St. Bonaventure baseball team (18-17, 6-8 Atlantic 10 Conference) evened its three-game series with Saint Joseph's (18-24, 8-5 A-10) by virtue of a 4-1 victory.

Crane's complete game – his third of the season – comes nearly a year to the day after his first – a six-hit, 2-1 victory at Xavier on April 30, 2011. The two hits are the fewest he has allowed in his career as the right-hander struck out six and worked his way around four walks as he tossed 128 pitches on the chilly afternoon.

The middle of the Bona lineup did the most damage on the afternoon as three-hole hitter Billy Urban and cleanup man Ryan Skellie each went 2-for-3, while Skellie also stole two bases. The two combined for four of Bonaventure's seven hits on the afternoon. However, the biggest hit of the game came in the home portion of the 6th off the bat of Michael Meredith.

With the score tied, 1-1, the shortstop laced a 1-1 delivery right back up the middle to score Urban and Skellie, and then a fielding error by the Saint Joe's center fielder allowed sophomore Justin Brozick to score all the way from first.

That was all the scoring SBU would need as unlike in the series opener on Friday, the Bonnies held on to a late lead to create the rubber match on Sunday.

The Bonnies opened the scoring by manufacturing a run in the bottom half of the 4th inning. After Urban was hit by a pitch leading off the frame, Skellie chased him to third with a full-count single through the vacated right side of the infield. With one out, Brozick laid down a perfect suicide squeeze up the first-base line to score Urban.

The Hawks responded with a run in the 5th as Crane allowed his only two hits – one an infield single to shortstop – in the inning. However, that was all the offense the Hawks would produce off Crane.

The two teams will square off in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for Noon with sophomore Asa Johnson scheduled to make the first A-10 start of his career.
