BUFFALO, N.Y. – After dropping the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon, 6-1, the St. Bonaventure baseball team (21-24) rebounded in the second game, 11-4, to split the twinbill with Big 4 rival University at Buffalo (16-33) at Amherst Audubon Field.

Junior Jason Radwan collected five hits over the course of the two games, including a 4-for-4 effort in the second game, and was on base six times in eight opportunities. Radwan also drove in three runs and scored two of his own. Senior Ryan Skellie added a pair of hits over both games, including a three-run home run and 4 RBI in the second contest.

In game two, the Bonnies scored in each of the first three innings to jump out to a 7-0 lead. Bona starter Cael Johnson (3-5) made that advantage stand up as he allowed just one run while scattering four hits and striking out six.

SBU plated the game's first run in the 1st inning courtesy of an Austin Ingraham double into right-center which plated Radwan, who had singled up the middle.

A four-run 2nd frame opened up the contest for the Brown and White. Brian Weightman, Radwan and Skellie each drove in a run during the inning, with Weightman and Skellie drawing bases-loaded walks to earn their respective RBI. The scoring outburst was helped by two Bulls errors, leading to three unearned runs.

Radwan supplied the two Bona runs in the 3rd inning as he delivered a two-out double into right-center to score junior Michael Meredith and Weightman, who each reached via four-pitch walks with two outs.

Skellie delivered his home run in the 6th inning, scoring Radwan and Billy Urban, who had reached via a walk and a single up the middle, respectively. The fourth run of the inning came when Nick Brennen delivered a triple to right-center to plate Justin Brozick, who reached via a walk.

The Bulls, who lost three of four this season to the Bonnies, got one run in the 5th and plated three in the bottom of the 7th off reliever Radwan, who allowed four hits in the frame.

In game one, UB raced out to a 6-0 lead, scoring in four of the first five innings. The lone SBU run of the contest came in the 6th on an Ingraham sacrifice fly to score Urban, who had doubled earlier in the inning.

The Bonnies could muster just four hits in the first game. Freshman Cameron Carney (0-3) started for Bonaventure but allowed five earned runs on nine hits over his four innings of work. Zachary Edwards relieved him, tossing two innings in which he allowed four hits and just one unearned run.

St. Bonaventure returns to action on the road Thursday against Charlotte as it begins its season-closing Atlantic 10 Conference series against the 49ers.
