Women's Tennis Suffers Loss To Navy In Spring Season Opener

OLEAN, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team failed to win a match in its spring season opener, as Navy defeated the Bonnies, 7-0, on Saturday at the SBU Fitness Center.

Marissa Brossard (pictured) put forth a strong effort at No. 2 singles, but Navy's Erin Snook overcame the SBU sophomore to score a 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory.

Sophomore Fatya Amiri fell to Emani Decquir, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles, while senior Kathryn Kvas was bested by Darien Sears, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.

St. Bonaventure's Taylor Cole, Riley Archer and Jillian Hammell were each defeated, 6-0, 6-0, in the other singles matches.

In doubles play, Brossard and Amiri bowed to Snook and Noelle Kaufman, 8-2, at the No. 1 position and Kvas and Cole were downed, 8-4, in the second doubles match by Decquir and Sam Droop. Archer and Hammell, meanwhile, fell, 8-1, in a doubles exhibition.

The Bonnies return to action at 3 p.m. Sunday against St. Francis (Pa.) at the SBU Fitness Center.
