ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Saint Louis (14-5, 3-2 Atlantic 10) scored the game's first seven points and never trailed in its 67-57 men's basketball victory over St. Bonaventure (9-10, 2-4 A-10) on Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center.

The Bonnies, who trailed by 15 points at halftime, cut the deficit to seven (58-51) on a Youssou Ndoye free throw with 3:36 remaining, but the Billikens responded with six straight points to put the game away.

Demitrius Conger led St. Bonaventure with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Chris Johnson and Charlon Kloof each added 11 points. The Bonnies shot just 17-47 (36.2 percent) from the field and 2-16 (12.5 percent) from 3-point range.

Saint Louis registered 14 steals and bested SBU, 27-16, in points off turnovers, with the 27 points representing a season high allowed by the Bonnies. Dwayne Evans posted 18 points and eight rebounds, and Cody Ellis chipped in 10 points and four steals to key the Billikens.

SLU put its conference-leading defense (57.9 points per game) on display, particularly in the first half as it limited SBU to a season-low 23 points in the opening stanza. The Billikens' 14 steals are by far the most Bonaventure has allowed this year – five more than any other opponent – and the 57 points are a season-low for the Brown and White.

St. Bona issued just seven assists for the game – its second-lowest total of the year – and turned it over 19 times, representing the largest assist-to-turnover disparity of the season.

Bonaventure had connected on 21 of its last 38 3-point attempts (55.2 percent) over the past two games entering the contest with the Billikens, but SLU – which has the worst 3-point defense percentage in the league – held SBU to a season-low-tying two makes from long range. Matthew Wright, who had scored 40 points over the last two games, finished with just two and left early in the second half with a left foot injury. He is not expected to miss a significant amount of time, and could play in Bona's next game Saturday.

Kloof's 11 points off the bench came on the heels of back-to-back scoreless outings at Temple and Saint Joseph's, and the junior had tallied just six points over his past four games.

Ndoye scored eight points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots in his third straight start. Roommate Jordan Gathers added seven points and a couple of assists in 19 minutes off the bench for the Bonnies.

St. Bonaventure will now embark on its first of two bye weeks in the A-10 season as the Bonnies return to action next Saturday at the Reilly Center against Duquesne. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m., and the game will be televised on Time Warner Sports.
