Bonnies Game Notes

  • The Bonnies unveil their 2013-14 team with six players who are new to the roster: Jalen Adams, Andell Cumberbatch, Chris Dees, Denzel Gregg, Matthias Runs, and Xavier Smith. While Runs was at St. Bonaventure last year, he did not play and so he will be making his debut.
  • This is St. Bonaventure's only exhibition and thus only tune-up prior to the season-opener next Saturday night, Nov. 9, at home against South Dakota.
  • Senior guard Matthew Wright averaged 7.3 points per game last season for the Bonnies, best among the returning Bonnies. Junior center Youssou Ndoye averaged 6.9 points per game while senior forward Marquise Simmons averaged 6.2.
  • Wright was chosen to the Preseason All-Big 4 second team along with junior center Youssou Ndoye.
  • Senior Charlon Kloof is expected to return to the starting point guard role. Last season, he split time with Eric Mosley, who had emerged as one of the Bonnies' top scorers. Kloof averaged 5.3 points and 2.0 assists last year.

Scouting the Mansfield Mountaineers

  • Mansfield was picked to finished fifth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference this season.
  • This is the second exhibition game for Mansfield this week; on Wednesday night the Mounties lost at Towson, 85-65. Junior forward Joe Bell scored 16 points to lead three double figure scorers.
  • Bell started all 28 games as a sophomore, and led the team in both scoring (17.4 ppg) and rebounding (7.9). He is a preseason all-conference selection.
  • Entering his 9th season as the Mountaineers head coach, Rich Miller looks to lead Mansfield to a second straight PSAC playoff berth.
