How It Happened
It was a back-and-forth affair today between the Bonnies and Terriers, as the game featured a total of 21 lead changes with the score knotted up on six different occasions. Boston University converted on seven three pointers in the first half, which certainly was a key to the Terriers snagging the one point lead going into halftime. Katie Healy led all players in points (11) and rebounds (6) heading into the break. The Bonnies were outshot 44.4% (12-27) to 41.2 % (14-34) in the opening half. The Terriers also managed to get to the free-throw line more than the Brown and White did, converting on 5-6 from the line while SBU was 3-4.
In the second half, Hannah Little turned up her game up and brought down 13 rebounds, as she added to her 5 boards from the first half, finishing the game with a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with her 13 points. Despite the two team's repeatedly trading scores throughout the contest, the Bonnies tightened up when it mattered. The last time the Bonnies trailed in the game was at the 8:11 mark, when the Terriers converted on a three pointer to go up by two points. The Brown and White tied the score up exactly one minute later off a layup by Nyla Rueter, and they took the lead with just under seven minutes remaining. Boston University would tie the score up one final time with 1:30 remaining, and the Bonnies outscored the Terriers 3-2 during that final stretch to hang on for the one point victory.
