Women's Tennis Set to Face Robert Morris, Slippery Rock, Pitt

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team returns to the court for a trio matches starting on Friday against Robert Morris at 5 p.m. at the SBU Fitness Center. After the Bonnies take on the Colonials, they host Slippery Rock at 1 p.m Satuday and visit Pittsburgh at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Bona opened its spring season at home last weekend with losses to Navy and St. Francis, Pa. The Bonnies suffered a 7-0 defeat against the Midshipmen and a 5-2 setback against the Red Flash.

Against St. Francis, sophomores Fatya Amiri and Marissa Brossard posted singles victories for St. Bonaventure at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions, respectively. With the win, Brossard improved to 5-4 in singles competition this year and tied senior Riley Archer for the team lead with five singles wins. Archer owns a 5-5 record.

In doubles play, the duo of Amiri and Brossard lead the Bonnies with two victories.

SBU kicks off the weekend against a winless Robert Morris team. The Colonials (0-4) lost a pair of dual meets during their fall season and opened the spring with successive 7-0 losses at Dayton and at Wright State.

Division II Slippery Rock opens its spring season on Saturday against Bona. The Rock (0-1) competed in one dual meet during the fall and lost, 5-4, to West Liberty University.

Pitt boasts a 1-1 record, with a 6-1 victory at St. Francis (Pa.) and a 4-3 loss at Buffalo. The Panthers were scheduled to host Georgetown on Saturday before welcoming the Bonnies on Sunday.
