Amiri, Brossard Post Wins For #Bonnies In Loss To Bucknell

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team received victories from its top two singles players, but it wasn't enough as the Bonnies fell to Bucknell, 5-2, on Sunday at the SBU Fitness Center.

Sophomore Fatya Amiri posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Elena Vidrascu at first singles for the Bonnies (2-7), while classmate Marissa Brossard overcame Maria Cioffi for a 5-7, 6-2, (10-4) triumph at No. 2 singles.

For Brossard (pictured), the individual victory was her team-leading ninth of the year. Amiri, meanwhile, is second on the squad with seven singles wins.

In other singles matches for SBU, seniors Kathryn Kvas and Riley Archer were defeated in straight sets.

The Bonnies' doubles tandems of Amiri and Brossard and Archer and Kvas were bested, 8-1 and 8-4, respectively. Bona forfeited the third doubles match to Bucknell (2-3) due to injury.

The Bonnies stay home for an Atlantic 10 matchup against Duquesne at 11 a.m. Sunday at the SBU Fitness Center.
