ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure's top three singles players each produced victories against Colgate on Saturday, but the Bonnies suffered a narrow 4-3 loss to the Raiders in women's tennis action at the SBU Fitness Center.

St. Bonaventure sophomores Fatya Amiri (pictured) and Marissa Brossard both won their matches in straight sets, with Amiri claiming a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Kelsey Shea at first singles and Brossard capturing a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Alex Petrini in the second position. Senior Kathryn Kvas dropped her first set against Jennifer Ho at No. 3 singles but rallied to prevail 4-6, 6-0, 6-0.

Colgate won the remaining three singles matches and added on two more wins in doubles competition to claim victory. The first doubles match between SBU's Amiri and Brossard and Colgate's Ho and Petrini was not completed.

The Bonnies dropped to 2-4 on the season while the Raiders improved to 3-0.

In other singles matches, SBU's fourth player, Taylor Cole, won her first set against Kelsey Wanhainen but ultimately fell, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. The Bonnies' Riley Archer and Jillian Hammell were defeated in straight sets at the Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively, by Lexi Lazares and Meredith Rock.

In doubles play, St. Bonaventure's second team of Kvas and Cole suffered an 8-6 loss to Shea and \Rock, while the third duo of Archer and Hammell was topped 8-2 by Jackie Finn and Katie Grant.

Brossard's singles victory moved to her to a team-best 8-5 on the year. Amiri improved to 6-7 and Kvas jumped to 5-7 with their wins.

The Bonnies next hit the road for matches against Army and Massachusetts Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 and 16, in West Point.
