SAINT LOUIS –
The St. Bonaventure baseball team (11-19, 3-8 Atlantic 10 Conference) scored the first run of the game in the 1st inning, but Saint Louis (28-11, 10-1 A-10) immediately responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame and never looked back en route to a 10-4 victory over the Bonnies Saturday afternoon.

After going hitless in the series opener on Friday night, Bona senior and the A-10's leading hitter, Jason Radwan, led the offensive attack with three hits in five at bats, scoring a run and recording a double. Freshman Thaddeus Johnson (pictured) hit his first collegiate home run leading off the 4th inning and finished 2-5 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.

Bonaventure took that 1-0 lead on a Billy Urban sacrifice fly after consecutive hits to start the game by Joel Rosencrance and Radwan. However, Rosencrance – who got the start on the mound for SBU – gave up six hits in the bottom of the 1st and SLU tacked on three more off reliever Connor Grey in the 3rd inning to take a 6-1 edge that the Bonnies weren't able to overcome.

Bona's scored twice in the 4th to make it 6-3 as the other run in the inning came on a Bret Heath ground out to plate Michael Meredith. The Brown and White got it to as close as 6-4 in the 5th following a Johnson single to right field to bring home Radwan. But Saint Louis responded with its third three-run inning of the game in the home portion and tallied one more run in the 8th for the final margin.

Rosencrance (2-3), making his first A-10 start, took the loss as he allowed six hits and three runs in just one inning of work. Grey allowed four hits and six runs (four earned) over 3.2 innings of work in which he walked two, struck out two and hit two. Freshman Ryan Winton tossed the last 3.1 innings and allowed just one run on three hits, walking three, striking out two and throwing two wild pitches.

St. Bonaventure will look to salvage a game from the series against the first-place Billikens when the two teams meet in the finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern.
