PDF BOX SCORE

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. The St. Bonaventure baseball team's (16-21) five-game winning streak was halted by the Golden Griffins of Canisius (32-11) on Tuesday with a 5-2 loss to its Little Three rival.

Senior Jason Radwan continued his record-hitting season on an overcast Tuesday afternoon by going 2-4 at the plate. With his second hit of the day, he moved into a tie for 10th on the program's single-season hit list with 63.

Thaddeus Johnson (pictured) improved his batting average 21 points by going 3-4 with a run scored. Nick Lohrer also contributed by going 2-3 for the Bonnies. Billy Urban, Bret Heath and Michael Meredith each had one base knock with Urban getting the lone RBI of the game.

The hitting duo of Radwan and Urban are now four hits shy of breaking the record of most career hits by a pair of teammates in program history.

Staring on the mound for the Bonnies was freshman Steven Klimek (1-4) who threw 3.2 innings, allowing five hits and three runs. After the right hander gave up a run in the 4th, Asa Johnson came into the ball game with runners on first and second and pitched 2 innings, giving up four hits and one run.

For the last 3.1 innings, St. Bonaventure went to three different pitchers. Red shirt senior Eddie Gray came on for his first relief appearance since 2010 and gave the Bonnies a strong performance by only allowing one hit in 1.1 innings. At the beginning of 8, freshman Connor Grey tossed .2 innings in which he allowed one hit and one run before Billy Urban took the mound. Urban finished the game for Bonnies by going 1.1 innings with one hit allowed and one strikeout.

Radwan remained hot in the 1st with a double over the Canisius right fielder's head. Later in the inning, Urban was able to drive in the first run of the game when he singled up the middle. Bonaventure came into the game 11-4 when scoring first this year. However, things quickly went south for the Bonnies as Canisius scored in four straight innings to open a 4-1 lead after the 5th inning.

The Bonnies cut into the deficit in the 6th when Thad Johnson singled to left field. With the next at bat, Bret Heath singled to right center where the center fielder misplayed the ball, allowing Johnson to narrow the lead by two after scoring from first on center fielder error. But Canisius added an insurance run in the 8th inning to earn its third-straight victory over the Bonnies, dating back to last year.

SBU has now played in nine home games this year and is 7-2 in those contests. Six of those games came from the homestand it just wrapped up Tuesday.

The Bonnies return to action in an Atlantic 10 Conference showdown this weekend at Rhode Island in a three-game series before they comeback for their final homestand on the year against La Salle.

Game Notes: Klimek has 12 wild pitches on the year, which doubles the second-closest pitcher on the team … Radwan is now tied with Kevin Suminski '07 on the single-season hit list … Radwan is now 20 hits shy of the all-time record, held by Brian Pellegrini '07 … Radwan increased his batting average by two points to .417 … the Brown and White is now 2-1 this year against its Little Three rivals.
