Women's Tennis Continues Atlantic 10 Play At Duquesne

PITTSBURGH – The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team is set to face off against Atlantic 10 rival Duquesne at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

The match is the third straight against conference foes for the Bonnies, who defeated La Salle, 4-3 and lost to Saint Joseph's, 6-1, last weekend in Philadelphia. With the road split, SBU moved to 3-13 overall and 1-3 in conference.

Duquesne, meanwhile, is 6-9 overall and 2-3 in A-10 play. The Dukes have beaten Saint Joseph's and Dayton and have lost to Temple, George Washington and Xavier. The Bonnies have also lost to Temple this year.

Duquesne is coming off a 4-3 victory over crosstown rival Pittsburgh. SBU also played Pitt earlier this spring and was shutout, 7-0, by the Panthers in Pittsburgh.

The Dukes have dominated the series against St. Bonaventure of late, having defeated the Bonnies at least nine straight times, including last year's 6-1 win at the SBU Fitness Center.

Judy Li and Alexa Miller are tied for the team lead with nine individual wins for the Dukes, who are 52-77 collectively in singles matches. Duquesne is 25-41 in doubles play, paced by Megan O'Sullivan and Sarah Shashura's 9-4 record.

Sophomores Fatya Amiri and Marissa Brossard lead the Bonnies with 11 individual victories each. Senior Kathryn Kvas has won her last two matches and has eight wins on the year. Amiri and Brossard have also partnered for a team-leading five doubles wins together.

After facing Duquesne, St. Bonaventure welcomes Little 3 rival Niagara for a 2 p.m. match on Monday at the SBU Fitness Center.
