Women's Tennis Falls At Duquesne; Faces Little 3 Rival Niagara Next

HARMAR, Pa. – The St. Bonaventure women's team was shutout, 7-0, by Atlantic 10 rival Duquesne on Friday.

Five SBU singles players were defeated in straight sets and the Bonnies (3-14, 1-4 Atlantic 10) forfeited the sixth and final match due to injury. Kathryn Kvas was aiming for her third straight individual victory at third singles, but the SBU senior was bested by Sarah Shashura, 6-0, 6-2.

Duquesne (7-9, 3-4) also won the third doubles match by default because St. Bonaventure did not have enough players to compete. The Bonnies lost the two contested doubles matches 8-3 and 8-0.

St. Bonaventure will next face Little 3 rival Niagara at 3 p.m. Monday at the SBU Fitness Center. The Bonnies fared well against NU during October's SBU Fall Classic, winning four of five singles matches and both doubles matches against the Purple Eagles.

But Niagara (11-5) has been tough to beat of late as the Purple Eagles have won four straight matches and seven of their last eight.

Two of St. Bonaventure's three wins have come at home, while Niagara is 5-3 on the road.
