THE BRONX –
The St. Bonaventure baseball team (19-28, 8-15 Atlantic 10 Conference) was swept by Fordham (22-32, 8-15 A-10) in a doubleheader Thursday afternoon, dropping both games by the score of 5-3.

Eric Jutca, Jason Radwan, Joel Rosencrance and Nick Lohrer had one hit in each game, while Austin Ingraham (pictured) continued his hot hitting at the end of the season by going 2-4 in game one and 1-3 with a walk in game two. Ingraham – who had a double and a triple in the first contest – has increased his average 30 points in the last 11 days from .259 entering play on May 5 to .289 following Thursday.

In the first game, each of the first three batters in the SBU lineup – Jutca, Radwan and Rosencrance – had an RBI, and in game two freshman catcher Josh Martin recorded just his second RBI of the year. Billy Urban and Rosencrance drove in the other two runs in the nightcap.

In game one, a three-run 6th inning by Fordham broke a 2-2 tie and spearheaded the Rams to victory. Trailing 1-0 entering the 3rd, the Bonnies received an RBI single from Radwan and a Rosencrance sacrifice fly to take a short-lived 2-1 edge. The Rams tied the contest at 2-2 in the bottom of the frame, and the score remained that way into the 6th when the Rams took the lead for good on three hits.

SBU got one of the runs back in the 7th on a Jutca ground out to plate pinch runner Tommy Styn, who ran for Lohrer after leading off the inning with a single. However, that's all the Bonnies could muster as they fell to 2-7 in the first game of doubleheaders this year.

Redshirt junior Andrew Revello started and took the loss after tossing seven innings, allowing eight hits and all five runs, four of which were earned. The right hander struck out seven – one off tying his season high – and did not walk a batter. Freshman Ryan Winton pitched the final inning for the Brown and White, surrendering two hits and two walks but no runs.

In game two, Bonaventure carried a 1-0 lead into the 6th inning, which was again when Fordham got its offense going. The Rams scored once in the 6th and two times each in the 7th and 8th innings to complete the sweep.

Bona's initial run came on a Rosencrance double to left center in the 4th, which scored Jutca, who had worked a leadoff walk. Trailing 5-1 entering the 9th, the Bonnies had their first four batters of the inning reach safely, and after an Ingraham walk had already scored one run and had the bases loaded with no one out. However, Fordham's Rich Anastasi entered in relief and worked out of the jam by retiring the next three batters.

Rosencrance started on the mound for the Bonnies in game two, going 7.1 innings and allowing four runs. The junior right hander walked four and struck out only two, representing the first time this season as a starter he has walked more batters in a game than he's struck out. Redshirt senior Eddie Gray pitched the final .2 of an inning, allowing an unearned run on two hits and a walk.

St. Bonaventure will look to salvage one win from the three-game series and claim its 20th victory of the season in finale Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m., and junior Asa Johnson is scheduled to get the start on the mound for the Bonnies.
