#Bonnies Fall in Overtime to Navy, 3-2

ANNAPOLIS, MD. – The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team (1-3-1), coming off of a 2-2 tie in double-overtime on Friday, found themselves in overtime again Sunday afternoon only to come up short, 3-2, at the hands of Navy in the finale of the Navy Invite in Annapolis, Md.

The Bonnies did not waste much time getting on the board in this one. Just over ten minutes into the game, Alyssa Lapp continued her hot start scoring her third goal of the season on a one-timer thanks to a feed from Alex Meador. It was Meador's first helper of the year.

The Brown and White would not take another shot for the remainder of the period as goalkeeper Megan Junker kept Navy at bay to preserve the 1-0 lead heading into the break. Navy took five shots in the opening frame.

Navy came out in the second half and began to pepper the Bonnies with shots. Three shots in the first seven minutes failed to find their mark as Junker stood her ground. The Bonnies, still without a shot in the second frame, earned a corner kick in the 62nd minute and would not waste the opportunity.

Caitlin MacConnell took the kick and hooked it past the Navy goalkeeper to give the Brown and White a 2-0 lead. The Bonnies now held a 2-0 advantage despite taking just two shots to that point in the game.

Still leading in the 82nd minute, SBU finally allowed Navy to end its drought. Morgan Dankanich registered her fourth tally of 2013 on a volley in the box. Now in defense mode the Bonnies would succumb to the Navy pressure yet again in the 88th minute. Paloma Perez tied the game with her third score of the season. Perez took a pass from Courtney Hook and fired home the shot from the right side of the box.

Regulation would end with the two teams locked in a 2-2 tie. The Bonnies would head to overtime for the second time in as many games. St. Bonaventure never had a chance to mount an attack in the overtime period as Navy fired three shots in the first two minutes with the third finding its mark to end this one. Kaylie Davidson took a rebound off the post and sent it home for the game-winning goal.

Navy outshot the Bonnies 19-2 in this one. Megan Junker made six saves in 92 minutes in net. Alyssa Lapp, Alex Meador and Jordan Calabria were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Bonnies will return home to face Austin Peay on Friday (Sept. 13) at 4 p.m.
