In a closely contested match Friday evening, George Washington prevailed 1-0 over St. Bonaventure on a goal by Christian Lawal in the 55th minute.
Oliver Curry sent a crossing pass into the box that Lawal headed the ball toward the lower right corner of the net past Bonnies' keeper Jeremy Figler.
The Bonnies played well enough to win and certainly had their chances, sending 11 shots toward Colonials keeper JP van der Merwe, but he made five saves and saw several other shots sail just wide of his net.
Figler was strong in net for St. Bonaventure with nine saves, including several diving stops.
St. Bonaventure remained winless in Atlantic 10 Conference play at 0-4, while the Colonials improved to 2-1-1 in the A-10.
