The Short Story:
The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team played spoilers on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Rhode Island as they defeated the Rams by a score of 2-1 on their senior day.
The game began like a typical match of recent memory for the Bonnies as they allowed an early goal within the first 15 minutes. Rhode Island notched the first goal in the 8th minute of play as Dariann Sellitti collected a rebound off a shot by Samantha Leyh and placed it over the SBU goalkeeper.
St. Bonaventure fought back quickly as it got the tying goal just 10 minutes later. The freshman midfielder, Danielle Vis, tallied her fourth goal of the season in the 18th minute with a shot from 10 yards out and beat the diving goalkeeper to the left.
The game remained tied at one apiece up until the 62nd minute with a beautiful team goal by the Bonnies. Vis and Brittany Charles moved the ball up the field and played it into Abby Maiello, inside the box, who crossed it in front of the net to find Lauren Hill to tap the ball in for what would be the game-winning goal.
Rhody pressured the Bonnies defense at the end of the game looking for the equalizer, but were unsuccessful in its attempts.
It was the story of quantity over quality in shots as the Rams would outshoot the Brown and White in total, 13-11, but the quality of the shots were key as the Bonnies tested the keeper nine times, compared to the three shots on goal for Rhode Island.
St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Christina Sarokon earned her sixth win of the season.

"I think our girls did a good job of playing soccer and fighting for everything. We need to carry the same attitude going into next week and be prepared for our last two games."
