The Short Story:
Seniors Garrett Pasono and Nicholas Perillo powered the St. Bonaventure men's soccer team to its first win on Friday night against the Saint Francis (Pa.) Red Flash, 2-1.
The game remained at a standstill until the 60th minute, when Saint Francis' Andres Vega connected on a deflection to score the first goal of the night. Vega received the ball that bounced off the keeper up into the air and headed the ball pass a diving Jeremy Figler.
Being down with less than 20 minutes to go the game seemed to be repeating itself like most games have for the Brown and White. St. Bonaventure had to find a way to claw back, which they did in the 73rd and 78th minute with two goals coming from Pasono and Perillo, respectively.
In the 73rd minute, Kyle Kleckner headed back the ball towards the net from a cross, which found Pasono waiting there to head the ball into the back of the net. This was Pasono's first goal of the season and Kleckner's first collegiate point.
At the 78th minute mark, Perillo got the game winning goal from 18 yards out as he secured the ball from a corner kick by Jimmy Barrios. Barrios crossed the ball in, which was punched out by the Saint Francis keeper and landed right at the feet of Perillo for him to blast it into the bottom right of the net for the 2-1 lead.
The netkeeper, Jeremy Figler, was called upon late in the match as he was forced to make two saves that clinched the victory.
