The Short Story:
The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team dropped its Atlantic 10 opener against the No. 3/8 Saint Louis Billikens by a score of 3-0.

The Billikens lived up to their ranking on Sunday as they jumped out to early lead with a goal happening in the 13th minute. The Saint Louis' forward, Kingsley Bryce, notched the first goal of the game from a cross and scored from six yards out.

At the 25th minute mark, SLU tacked on its second goal of the game off a free kick. After a foul on St. Bonaventure, David Graydon played the ball into the box and found Robert Kristo to head it pass Jeremy Figler. Kristo is now tied for most goals in the Atlantic 10 with eight.

Saint Louis extended its lead in the second half after the Bonnies committed a foul inside the box to allow a penalty kick. Anthony Manning lined up 12-yards away and drilled it pass the diving SBU keeper to put the Billikens up by three.

The Bonnies are now 1-6, while Saint Louis is 8-2. 


Inside The Stats / Game Notes:

  • Saint Louis dominated in the shot category as it registered 19 shots to the Brown and White's four.  
  • The Bonnies and the Billikens were even on corners with three apiece.
  • Seniors Garrett Pasono, Blagoja Dimitrievski, Eric Smolarek and junior Breno Calegari each recorded a shot.
  • It was a chippy match as there was a total of 25 fouls. Mitch Skrabacz and Smolarek each were given yellow cards in the second half. SLU received one yellow in the first.

Next Up: The Bonnies continue on the road as they travel to Oneonta, N.Y. on Wednesday, October 8 to face the Hartwick Hawks. The Hawks are 0-6-4 this season.
