The Short Story:
The Bonnies were held to only five hits on Saturday, March 1 against the Central Michigan Chippewas in Port Charlotte, Fla. Central Michigan finally pushed a run across with one-out in the eighth off a Leichman doubled that resulted in N. Regnier scored. After posting another run in the eighth, Central Michigan recorded three runs in the ninth off two hits. Despite the loss for the Brown and White, starting pitcher Asa Johnson would go on to throw a gem of a game by throwing 6.1 innings pitched and only allowing three hits and zero runs.

How It Happened:

  • Two batters later, Logan Regnier singled that advanced Tyler Huntey to scored and let Cody Leichman to score for a 2-0 lead after eight.
  • Central Michigan started the ninth with a walk and shortly followed with a passed ball, Morgan Oliver notched the third RBI for the Chippewas.
  • With two-outs in the top of the ninth, Leichman connected for a two-run RBI.
  • The Bonnies would go down in order in the bottom of the ninth.
