How It Happened:

  • The Richmond Spiders didn't take long to get on the board as they would leave the bottom of the first inning with a three-run lead. After a hit towards the shortstop and a walk, Matt Dacey homered to right field.
  • St. Bonaventure got a run back in the top of the second after a Joel Rosencrance single to center field that drove in Bret Heath.
  • In the bottom of the third inning the Spiders notched on two-runs, including a double down the right field line to score Jansen Fraser.
  • With a four-run lead in tack for Richmond, Tyler Beckwith and Dacey extended the Spiders lead to six runs with only two swings of the bat as they each recorded a solo homerun.
  • The St. Bonaventure right fielder, Bret Heath, registered his own homerun in the top of the sixth as he homered down the right field line to score Jonathan Diaz from second.
  • The ballgame calmed down until the top of the eighth, when SBU was able to score three runs with only one hit. Dylan Dunn ended up driving in a run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  After the top of the eighth, St. Bonaventure trailed 7-6.
  • The Spiders went on to answer back all three-runs that the Bonnies scored in the previous half inning. Among the three-runs for Richmond were two walks with the bases loaded.
