The Short Story: St. Bonaventure struggled to an opening 294 Sunday and finds itself in 10th place out of 12 teams after the first round of the 26th Leo Keenan Invitational at Bartlett Country Club.

On a pleasant and almost windless day, scores threatened long-standing Keenan Invitational records. Robert Morris tied the low mark for a team score at one-over par 281. The Colonials have a two-shot lead over Humber (Ontario) College, while LIU-Brooklyn is another two shots back in third place at 285. The crowded leaderboard has seven teams within 10 shots of the lead. Cleveland State (286, Drexel (287), Northern Kentucky (288) and Wagner (289) all broke the 290 mark.

Seven players broke par headlined by a pair of five-under par 65s by Robert Morris senior Ryan Prokay and LIU-Brooklyn junior Stewart Gray.  The 65 was one off the tournament record of 64 set by Siena's Brian Bigley in 2006.

Paul Minko, a junior at Cleveland State, is in third place at 66 followed by Wagner's Anton Frondelius, who shot an opening 67. Santiago Mejia of Robert Morris is in fifth place after his 68, while Saint Joseph's teammates Brian Turley and Tim Godshalk are tied for sixth at 69.

St. Bonaventure, which was in the first wave of players to tee off Sunday morning, was paced by freshman Corey Long, who shot a one-over par 71.  Juniors Josh Stauffer and Darren Simons both shot 74. Senior Dan Dunnigan, in his first action of the early season, shot 75, while junior Patrick Milkovich shot 76.

Up Next: The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Monday. All teams will tee off at 9:30 a.m. in a shotgun start.
