The Short Story: St. Bonaventure opened the season with a strong showing at the Colgate Invitational, finishing third out of 14 teams.
The Bonnies posted a 312 in Sunday's final round, which was their poorest round of the 54-hole event, but they still managed to hold on to the position which they had entering the day.
Army won the Invitational by 12 shots, 873-885, over host Colgate at 595.
Three St. Bonaventure players wound up in the top 25 of the 75-man field. Junior Josh Stauffer fired a team-best 76 Sunday for a 54-hole total of 225, which was good for a tie for 13th place. Classmate Darren Simons shot a 79 in the final round for a total of 229, which put him in a tie for 20th. Freshman Corey Long ended in a tie for 25th place at 232 after his closing 79.
Junior Patrick Milkovich carded a 78 on Sunday to finish at 234, good for a tie for 32nd.
Freshman Patrick Sheerer shot 85 Sunday and ended at 245.
