Box Score PITTSBURGH - The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team fell to Duquesne, 4-2, in a offensive-driven Atlantic 10 game on Thursday night at Rooney Field on the campus of Duquesne University.
Duquesne jumped out to an early lead when Caroline Lacy netted the game's first goal in the 11th minute.
St. Bonaventure would answer in the 23rd minute. Danielle Vis scored her third goal of the year to even score at one.
The Dukes stormed down the field on a breakaway at the 64:39 mark, but SBU's keeper Beth Moore turned away the would-be goal.
The score would remain tied as the two teams went into half time knotted at one. Duquesne would score two quick goals at the 50th and 58th minute to jump out to a 3-1 lead.
Abby Maiello would bring the Bonnies back within one when she scored her sixth goal of the season in the 70th minute.
The Dukes would put the game out of reach with their fourth goal of the game in the 74th minute.
Inside The Stats/Game Notes:
- Beth Moore started her second game in goal after returning from injury. The sophomore faced eight shots, stopping four of them.
- Senior forward Abby Maiello scored her team leading sixth goal of the season in the loss.
- Duquesne held the advantage over the Bonnies in shots 17-14 however, St. Bonaventure put eight shots on goal to Duquesne's seven.
- The six goals between the two teams is the most scored in a St. Bonaventure game this season.
- St. Bonaventure is now 0-3 in Atlantic 10 conference games. the last time the Bonnies started 0-3 in conference was in 2013. That season St. Bonaventure advanced to the A-10 semifinal game.
Up Next: St. Bonaventure will continue its road trip Sunday afternoon in the Bronx. The Bonnies and Rams will kick off at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11.
