St. Bonaventure came up just short Tuesday night at the Times Union Center, dropping a 73-70 decision to Siena in the annual Franciscan Cup game.

St. Bonaventure led 68-66 with 2:33 left after a jumper by Idris Taqqee. Siena, however, tied the game on a jumper by Marquis Wright and then, after an offensive foul call against  Marcus Posley, Brett Bispeng drove for a layup with 40 seconds that gave the Saints the lead for good. The Bonnies' only points in the final 2:33 were two free throws by Adams wit 18 seconds left that pulled the score to 71-70.

The teams combined for 45 turnovers – 25 by Siena. The Saints (8-4) outrebounded the Bonnies 38-27.

Posley and Adams led the Bonnies with 18 points each. Wright finished with 14 points and Denzel Gregg scored 12.  Freshman point guard Nelson Kaputo continued his strong play with six assists, four steals and two points.
