The Short Story: Youssou Ndoye had 16 points and 12 rebounds but St. Bonaventure lost 75-61 at Dayton on Saturday afternoon in the second meeting of the teams this season.
The Bonnies trailed 35-27 at halftime but could not close the gap early in the second. The Flyers, who went 9-20 from three-point range for the game, opened a 16-point lead eight minutes into the second half. St. Bonaventure was not able to come closer than 12 points the remainder of the game.
In their first game without starting point guard Jaylen Adams, the Bonnies had 17 turnovers – 11 in the first half. Junior Iakeem Alston made his first career start in place of Adams and acquitted himself well with a career high 11 points and three assists in 30 minutes. Marcus Posley was the only other Bonnies player to reach double figures with 12 points. St. Bonaventure did not make a three-point field goal in the game, ending 0-11.
The Bonnies fell to 13-10 overall and 6-6 in the Atlantic 10. Dayton, which entered the day in a tie for first place in the A-10, moved to 19-5/9-3.
How It Happened:
- St. Bonaventure got off to a slow start, falling behind 8-2 early.
- Dayton made five of its first eight three-point attempts, the last two by power forward Dyshawn Pierre that gave the Flyers a 25-14 lead with 8:23 left in the half.
- After he committed three early turnovers, Iakeem Alston checked back in and gave the Bonnies a lift, scoring five points in a row that pulled St. Bonaventure within 28-24.
- Dayton scored the last two field goals of the first half, including a pair of Jordan Sibert free throws with one second left, to lead 35-27 at halftime.
- It was a 50-39 game when Darrell Davis made a three-pointer and Pierre followed with two free throws to extend Dayton's lead to 55-39 with 11:54 remaining.
- Ndoye did his best to keep the Bonnies within range, scoring seven of Bona's first 12 points of the second half.
- The Bonnies trailed 66-49 when they scored four straight points on an Ndoye layup and short jumper by Dion Wright that cut the deficit to 66-53 with 5:51 remaining.
- That was as close as St. Bonaventure came, however, as Dayton made 13 of its 21 free throws in the second half to maintain its lead and go on to the sweep of the season series.

- Ndoye's double-double was his eighth this season and 12th of his career.
- Ndoye's 12 rebounds marked the 15th time this year he has grabbed 10 rebounds or more.
- The only other time this season St. Bonaventure did not make at least one three-pointer was at Richmond Jan. 11.
- Saturday was the last in a stretch of four games where the Bonnies faced teams in the top five in the A-10, starting with Davidson followed by VCU and UMass.
