Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. – St. Bonaventure played Mount St. Mary's evenly for the first two-thirds of the game but ultimately fell short, dropping a 17-11 decision on Wednesday afternoon at Waldron Stadium.
Mary Maestri scored back-to-back goals that pulled St. Bonaventure within 11-10 with 21:55 remaining in the contest. From there, however, Mount St. Mary's scored six unanswered goals to seize control. Kelly Maloney, who had six goals in the game, scored three of the Mount's goals in the decisive run.
Mount St. Mary's had jumped out to a 10-4 lead near the end of the first half. The Bonnies rallied by scoring six of the game's next seven goals. Gabrielle Bradley scored three of her four goals on the afternoon in the Bonnies' run.
Maestri also scored four goals for St. Bonaventure. LeighAnn Stauffer, Mikayla Place and Taylor Fallon scored one goal apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Conroy made 11 saves for the Bonnies.
St. Bonaventure dropped to 0-2 on the season. The Bonnies' next game will be March 8 at Iona at noon.
