WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – St. Bonaventure's golf team is tied for 11th place out of 13 teams after the first 36 holes of the Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational. The first two rounds were played Monday at the Greenbrier Resort's Old White TPC course.
The Bonnies posted a solid opening round of 297 but fell to a 306 in the afternoon round for a total of 603. They are tied with Loyola (Ill.).
Monday, St. Bonaventure was led by freshman Corey Long, who opened with a 76 and then posted a two-over par 72 for a 36-hole total of 148 (+8). Long is tied for 37th place in the field of 65 players.
Senior Dan Dunnigan was next at 77-75/152 followed by freshman Patrick Sheerer at 72-81/153. Junior Josh Stauffer opened with 77 and then shot 78 in the afternoon round for a total of 155. Junior Patrick Milkovich opened with a 72 but shot 87 in the second round for a total of 159.
East Tennessee State has a one shot lead over Eastern Kentucky, 566-577. Old Dominion is in third place at 571 followed by Marshall (572), Ohio (575), James Madison (575), Elon (577), Middle Tennessee State (581), Bowling Green (586), and Samford (591). Savannah State is last at 620.
The tournament will be completed with 18 holes on Tuesday.
