The Short Story:
The La Salle Explorers came out swinging in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday, April 19 as they recorded 17 runs on 17 hits on its way to a 17-6 blowout of the St. Bonaventure baseball team.

The game got out of hand within the first four innings, as the Explorers put 15 runs across the board, while the Bonnies were held scoreless. St. Bonaventure would eventually get a couple of runs across the plate, but the deficit was already insurmountable.

One of very few positives on Sunday were the bats of Tyler Walter and Thad Johnson. The classmates both had three hits on the day, while Walter had three RBIs and Johnson had two. All three of Johnson's hits were doubles. Walter had a solo homerun in the fifth.

Earning the win for La Salle was Mark Williams, who threw six innings and gave up three runs on five hits. Williams recorded five strikeouts in the victory.

Beyond The Box Score:

  • Walter recorded his first career home run with the Bonnies. St. Bonaventure now has five home runs on the year.
  • Johnson's three doubles gives him a team-high 10 doubles on the year.
  • Cole Peterson saw his first collegiate action on the mound. Peterson tossed one inning and allowed two runs on four hits, but neither of his runs were earned.
  • Freshman Nate Grant had four strikeouts in the setback. This is his second most in a single outing this season, only trailing seven strikeouts against Coppin State on March 12.
