HARMONY, Fla. – St. Bonaventure is tied for fourth place going into the final round of the Atlantic 10 Golf Championship.
The Bonnies shot a six-over par 294 in Saturday's second round of the championship, which is being played at Harmony Golf Preserve outside Orlando. St. Bonaventure had taken over the lead in the championship early on Saturday before falling back over the last six holes.
The Bonnies are tied with Dayton at 582 and are 10 shots behind leader VCU. Davidson is in second place at 575 with Richmond in third at 580. George Mason is one shot back of the Bonnies and Dayton at 583 while Rhode Island (586) is seventh and Saint Joseph's (587) is eighth.
Junior Josh Stauffer led the Bonnies on Saturday with a two-under par 70. He will go into the final round in a tie for sixth place with a total of 142 (-2). Stauffer was three under par on the front nine, then got to four under before slipping back with bogeys on 15 and 17.
Freshman Corey Long shot a 73 on Saturday, which was St. Bonaventure's second-best round of the day. Senior Daniel Dunnigan shot a 74 and junior Patrick Milkovich posted a 77. Long, Dunnigan and Milkovich are all at 147 for the championship, which is tied for 21st.
Freshman Patrick Sheerer shot 81, which St. Bonaventure did not count.
VCU's Adam Ball is the championship leader at 10-under 134 after a second round 68.
George Washington (599) is in ninth place followed by Fordham (606) and La Salle (614).
The final round of the championship will be played Sunday.
