GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure University women's cross country team continued its season Saturday afternoon by competing in the UB Stampede Invitational, finishing sixth overall.

Senior Aubrie Russell paced the Bonnies by turning in a time of 19:27.1 over the 5K course, finishing 39th out of 86 total competitors.

A pair of Bonnies freshmen turned in strong showings as Rachel Guyer and Emily Izydorcak clocked in at 19:51.1 and 19:54.1 respectively to finish 46th and 47th. Sophomore Hailey Gattuso finished out a trio of Bonnies finishers by taking 48th at 19:54.6.

Another Bonnies freshman, Lindsay Weaver came home in 20:41.5. Bonnies senior co-captain Kerry Caher did not compete due to injury.

Pittsburgh took the overall victory with a team score of 22 with UB's 44 total team points good for second while Toledo was third with 67 points. McMaster (106), Fredonia (156), St. Bonaventure (168) and Canisius (211) completed the team results.

"The idea is to work through soreness now," head coach Bob MacFarlane said. "Then we start easing up about two-to-three weeks before A-10s. Everybody did well. Everybody improved."

The Bonnies return to action Sept. 26 in Rochester.
