Women's Cross Country Sets 10 PRs at Aubrey Shenk Invitational

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – St. Bonaventure's women's cross country team wrapped up its regular season with a strong effort Saturday morning in the Aubrey Shenk Invitational as 10 members of the squad posted personal best times.

The Bonnies placed sixth in the team standings out of 33 squads.

As she has all season, freshman Jillian Lozo was at the front of the pack for the Bonnies. She ran the 6K layout across the historic Gettysburg battlefield in a time of 22:31.6, good for 20th out of over 300 runners who lined up on the starting line.

Lozo's effort marks one of the top showings in program history: she jumps to fourth individually in the program record book as she crushed her previous PR of 23:04 set last month in Lock Haven.

That set the tone for the Bonnies as several of the team members not only set personal bests, but also easily surpassed their previous PR marks.

Sophomore Miranda Habshi placed second for the team and 39th overall at 23:18.8.

Senior Molly Gipson moved up to third in the team standings and beat her previous PR by 10 seconds as she clocked in at 23:25.4.

The team's top seven also included junior Chloe Fisher (23:27.1), senior Claire Cuneo (23:33.7) and junior Katelyn Wilkes (23:47.0). Fisher improved her previous best time by 15 seconds.

Junior Gabriella Randazzo posted a big PR of 24:12.9, bettering her previous best effort by 27 seconds. Freshman Gianna Bille also PR'ed at 24:20.3, a six second improvement over her existing best time.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"The St. Bonaventure women's cross country team wrapped up its regular season on a high note. Leading the charge was freshman Jillian Lozo, who turned in a standout performance with a personal-best time of 22:31.6 over the 6K course. The impressive run not only led the Bonnies but also etched Lozo's name into the record books.

"Lozo's breakout performance highlights a promising future for the young Bonnies. Today we saw exceptional improvement across the board; 10 of the 15 runners who competed set new personal bests, with a team average time of 23:13 — marking one of the program's strongest collective efforts in recent memory.

"What makes the performance even more remarkable is the adversity the team overcame this fall. Despite losing three of their top six runners to season-ending injuries, the group never wavered in commitment or spirit.  We give tremendous credit to these young ladies.  They never once gave up on themselves — they pushed on, and their hard work and commitment showed today."
