CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Freshman Jillian Lozo made her Atlantic 10 Championship debut by leading the St. Bonaventure women's cross country team on a crisp Saturday morning at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
As a team, the Bonnies placed 13th.
Lozo paced the Bonnies in every meet this season and continued that trend by placing 89th out of 126 competitors in Saturday's meet.
With the race run under favorable conditions with cloudy skies and temperatures in the low-50s, Lozo completed the 6K course in a time of 23:14.3 with the best finish by a Bonnies freshman at the conference championship meet since Meghan Lex placed 80th two years ago.
Sophomore Miranda Habshi ran close behind her freshman teammate as she crossed the finish stripe at 23:26.7, five spots behind Lozo. Habshi improved her A-10 Championship finishing position by 22 spots over last year with her effort on Saturday.
Senior Claire Cuneo capped her cross country career by timing in at 23:56.2, beating her run on this course two years ago by nearly a full minute.
Junior Katelyn Wilkes timed in at 23:58.2 while Molly Gipson posted a time of 24:17.0, a seven second improvement over two seasons ago.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH BOB MACFARLANE
"Experience doesn't define greatness — courage does. Today, a young team ran with fearless hearts and showed what belief and hard work can build.  Freshman Jillian Lozo once again led the way, showing poise beyond her years and the ability to handle the pressure when it mattered most. Sophomore Miranda Habshi continued her climb back to the form we know she's capable of, giving our squad the strength and consistency we needed up front."
