The Starting Five Notes:

1.  St. Bonaventure heads south to face George Mason in its second Atlantic 10 game of the year. The Bonnies opened their A-10 schedule with a 97-85 home win over Davidson.

2.  St. Bonaventure's 9-3 mark is the program's best start since the 1999-00 season, when the Bonnies won 12 of their first 14 games.

3.  The "big 3" of senior forward Dion Wright, senior guard Marcus Posley and sophomore guard Jaylen Adams continue to lead this team. Together, the three combine to average 51.5 points per game. They all rank in the top 11 scorers in the Atlantic 10 with Adams (17.5) eighth, Posley (17.2) 10th and Wright (16.8) 11th. Wright leads all A-10 players with five double-doubles and is the third-leading rebounder (8.3) in the conference and ninth in scoring (16.8). Posley and Adams each have four 20+ point games.

4.  Adams is as hot as any A-10 player. He was named the A-10 Player of the Week after averaging 23.0 points, 8.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in two wins last week, topped by a career high 30 points in the win over Davidson. Over his last five games, Adams made 24 of 37 three-point shots (.649) and averaged 22.8 points per game.

5.  Wright is closing in on several significant career milestones. His five rebounds against Davidson gave him exactly 500 for his career. He needs 54 points to reach 1,000. Wright would be the 24th player in the program's storied history to accumulate over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

St. Bonaventure's Last Game: Bonnies 97, Davidson 85
St. Bonaventure pulled away in the last five minutes of Saturday night's Atlantic 10 opener for its ninth win.
• Jaylen Adams scored a career high 30 points and Marcus Posley scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half to lead the Bonnies.
• Davidson led 73-69 with seven minutes to play before the Bonnies seized control with an 11-2 run that opened an 80-75 lead by the 4:16 mark. The lead grew to 10 at 86-76 on a layup by Idris Taqqee with 2:09 remaining, and Davidson could not come any closer than six points after that.
• St. Bonaventure limited Jack Gibbs, the nation's fifth-leading scorer at 24.6 points per game, to 18 points on 7-27 shooting.
• In all, five Bonnies reached double figures as St. Bonaventure recorded its highest scoring game of the season. Denzel Gregg scored 13 points, Dion Wright had 12 and freshman Derrick Woods scored a career high 11.

St. Bonaventure vs. George Mason: The Last Meeting
Jan. 14, 2014: Senior center Youssou Ndoye scored a career high 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead St. Bonaventure to a 75-55 win at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. Ndoye scored 19 points in the first half alone as the Bonnies took a 38-22 lead at the break. After the Patriots took an early 10-2 lead, St. Bonaventure outscored the visitors 36-12 over the rest of the first half. Marcus Posley added 22 points as he made a (then) career-best five three-pointers. Andell Cumberbatch chipped in 12 points for the Bonnies.

Series Notes:
This will be the sixth meeting between the schools and their third as Atlantic 10 Conference members. The Bonnies hold a 3-2 series lead, including wins in both of their meetings as A-10 competitors.

Adams Named A-10 Player of Week
Last season, a broken finger ended point guard Jaylen Adams' superb freshman season prematurely. Last winter, his injury likely kept the A-10's coaches from putting Adams on the All-Rookie team – a spot that seemed a sure thing considering he was averaging 10 points and 4.5 assists per game and led all A-10 players in assist-to-turnover ratio at the time. Now, he's back right where he left off.
• The Baltimore, Md., native was named the A-10 Player of the Week after he averaged 23.0 points, 8.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds over the Bonnies' wins over Niagara (Dec. 30) and Davidson (Jan. 2). Adams was 12-22 (.545) from the field including 10-16 (.625) from three-point range. He also made 11 of 12 free throws and totaled two steals and three blocked shots. In the Bonnies' 97-85 win over Davidson, Adams scored a career high 30 points.  He scored 16 points and handed out 12 assists – the most assists by an A-10 player this season – in an 82-68 win over Niagara Dec. 30.
• Over his last five games, Adams made 24 of 37 three-point shots (.649) and averaged 22.8 points per game.
• Adams ranks eighth in the A-10 in scoring (17.5), second in assists (5.1 per game), second in three-point percentage (.471), fifth in three-pointers per game (3.0) and sixth in free throw percentage (.870).

Schmidt Moving Up Wins Chart
Now in his ninth season as head coach at St. Bonaventure, Mark Schmidt has 133 wins with the Bonnies, which is tied with Mike Reilly for fourth place on the program's all-time coaching wins list. Schmidt is the fourth-longest tenured coach in the Atlantic 10 behind St. Joseph's Phil Martelli (now in his 20th season), LaSalle's John Giannini (12th) and Richmond's Chris Mooney (10th).
