The Starting Five Notes
1.  St. Bonaventure opens play in the Lone Star Showcase against Arkansas-Little Rock Monday at 5 p.m. CT.  This game pits programs who both won regular season championships in their conferences last season.

2.  The Bonnies are 1-1 after a hard-fought, 73-66 loss at Florida last Thursday in Lakeland, Fla. St. Bonaventure trailed by 15 midway through the second half but fought back to tie the game with under two minutes left. The Bonnies' backcourt of Matt Mobley (28) and Jaylen Adams (20) combined for 48 points against the Gators.

3.  Adams was a first team All-Conference selection last year, and he hopes to build on a breakout sophomore campaign. Adams' list of preseason accolades included one of the top 50 candidates for the John Wooden Award. He has started his season well, averaging 21.5 ppg.

4.  Junior guard Matt Mobley is off to a fantastic start to his debut season at St. Bonaventure. Mobley, who sat out last year after transferring from Central Connecticut State, is averaging 24.5 points per game. He scored 28 points Thursday against Florida. Mobley's 49 points are the most scored by a St. Bonaventure player in his first two games since records have been kept.

5.  The Lone Star Showcase is St. Bonaventure's first in-season tournament since 2013, when the Bonnies played in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Florida. It also is the program's first game in the state of Texas since 2006, when the Bonnies were in the 2K Classic at the University of Texas.

Scouting ALR
• The Trojans dropped their first game of the season Friday, falling 65-57 at home to Idaho. Little Rock made just 31 percent of its shots from the field as its 18-game home winning streak was snapped.
• ALR is a very experienced team with five senior starters and all but two players back from last year's 30-5 club that beat Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament after winning both the regular season and tournament titles in the Sun Belt Conference.
• Senior point guard Marcus Johnson Jr. is the Trojans' leading scorer at 16.7 points per game. He is joined in the backcourt by Kemy Osse, who averages 14. points per game and is 11-22 from three-point range so far.
• Senior Lis Shoshi is the top post player for ALR. He averages 8.7 points and 8.7 rebounds. Senior swingman Maurius Hill is at 11 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
• The Trojans are led by first-year coach Wes Flanigan, who was the associate head coach last season.

The Series/Last Meeting
This will be the fifth meeting between the schools. St. Bonaventure leads the series, 3-1. The Last meeting was Jan. 11, 2011 in Little Rock, Ark., where St. Bonaventure grabbed a 68-55 win. In a strange scheduling twist, this was the second game of a home-and-home series between the teams in the 2010-11 season. Demitrius Conger booked a double-double with game highs of 21 points and 10 boards, Ogo Adegboye had 17 to go with nine assists, and St. Bonaventure ended its non-conference season with a 68-55 win. The Bonnies took control for good behind a 16-2 run that turned a 39-37 advantage into a 16-point cushion at the 7:51 mark of the final period. The run – powered by three-pointers from Adegboye and Conger – occurred with preseason Atlantic 10 first team selection Andrew Nicholson on the bench, as the junior was saddled with foul trouble from the start. He finished with 11 points on 5-of-8 from the floor in just 20 minutes of action.

Mobley Sprints Out Of Gate
By any measure, junior guard Matt Mobley is off to a fantastic start to his debut season at St. Bonaventure. Mobley, who sat out last year after transferring from Central Connecticut State, is averaging 24.5 points per game. After opening the year with 21 points against St. Francis, he turned heads when he scored 28 points against Florida. Mobley's 49 points are the most scored by a St. Bonaventure player in his first two games since statistical records have been kept. Mobley ranks third in the A-10 in scoring. Mobley's production is not a surprise. He practiced with the Bonnies last season after transferring from Central Connecticut, where he averaged 17 points per game as a sophomore and was named the Northeast Conference's most improved player. Mobley had four games of 30-plus points that season.

Taqqee Rebounds With The Bigs
Junior Idris Taqqee brings a hard-nosed, selfless approach to the court -- often described by Bonnies coach Mark Schmidt as a "glue guy" who does all the little things necessary for success. One of the team's co-captains for the second year in a row, Taqqee blossomed last year, starting every game this season and averaging 5.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He has opened his junior season with two incredible rebounding games, grabbing a career high 12 against St. Francis and then pulling down nine at Florida. Taqqee leads the A-10 in rebounding at 10.5 per game.
